Carly Roberts

Senior Portfolio Manager, School Readiness

I love being able to support amazing, impactful organizations to do their work better and to reach more kids, families, and educators. I find that our work occupies the middle ground between zoomed-in direct service work and zoomed-out ecosystem-level work and I enjoy making connections and toggling between these two areas with our grantees. It’s an honor to be able to help direct resources toward leading organizations that are making a difference.

Carly Roberts leads the Foundation’s School Readiness portfolio, which aims to ensure more children enter kindergarten ready to thrive. Carly also serves as the lead portfolio manager at the Foundation, overseeing onboarding and coaching for the Program team and extended workforce consultants.

Carly has worked in education throughout her career and in her graduate studies, with experience spanning direct impact, research, and policy. She coordinated comprehensive services for children and families in an under-resourced neighborhood in Washington, D.C. and later held consultative roles for school districts, Head Start research, Robin Hood Foundation, and the Newark Trust for Education.

Carly earned a Master’s of Public Administration and Master’s of Public Health from Columbia University and graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University with a B.A. in Psychology. She enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, eating her way around New York City, and dancing, and now does all of those things with her husband and two children.
