PowerMyLearning aims to advance educational equity by activating the power of collaboration between teachers, students, and families—the “triangle” of learning relationships. This enables teachers and families to collaborate on the same learning goals, resulting in improved academic achievement and social emotional learning for students.
PowerMyLearning Family Playlists® are enriching assignments that can be delivered via cell phone in 100+ languages. The playlists are assigned in school and implemented in the home, where students teach what they are learning to a family partner—a strategy that strengthens students’ understanding and social-emotional skills.
A short cycle randomized controlled trial conducted in spring 2021 showed that, compared to standard solo homework assignments, Family Playlists had a statistically significant positive impact on key SEL outcomes related to student agency, including intrinsic motivation, perceived competence, and perceived choice.
Overdeck Family Foundation’s grant allows PowerMyLearning to develop science and math playlists, measure impact on students’ academic mastery and social-emotional learning, and scale to serve more students, teachers, and families.
