Evaluating the Impact of OnYourMark’s 2:1 Virtual Tutoring Model on Early Literacy Outcomes

Principal Investigator

Susanna Loeb and Carly Robinson – National Student Support Accelerator

Project Description

This study evaluates the impact of OnYourMark’s 2:1 virtual tutoring model on foundational literacy skills for students in kindergarten through second grade. Using a randomized controlled trial, approximately 800–1,000 students in a large urban charter network will be randomly assigned to receive tutoring or continue with business-as-usual instruction. The intervention provides synchronous virtual literacy tutoring delivered by trained tutors to pairs of students, with a focus on students performing below grade-level benchmarks. Student outcomes will be measured using standardized early literacy assessments, along with administrative data on student characteristics and engagement.
