Evaluating the Impact of Springboard Collaborative on Early Literacy and Student Outcomes

Principal Investigator

Sarah Asson – Education Northwest

Project Description

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Springboard Collaborative’s family engagement literacy model on student reading outcomes in kindergarten through third grade. Using a randomized controlled trial, approximately 2,000 students across multiple districts will be assigned to either participate in Springboard’s after-school literacy programming or serve as a control group. The intervention combines targeted reading instruction with structured family engagement, including coaching and at-home literacy activities. The study uses administrative data on student reading achievement and attendance, as well as survey and focus group data from teachers and families, to assess both impacts and implementation fidelity. The research will also examine variation in effects across student subgroups and levels of participation.

Research Questions
