George Khalaf, Program Director, brings over two decades of experience advising, launching, and scaling high-impact social enterprises and nonprofits. As Program Director, George oversees and manages the work of the Program team, guiding investment strategies that measurably enhance education inside and outside of the classroom.
George comes to the Foundation with experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, George served as the founding Executive Director of Empatico, an award-winning digital platform that connects children around the world to deepen empathy and bring learning to life. In the private sector, George was part of the founding strategy consulting team at Dalberg. His private sector experience also includes roles as a management consultant at Accenture and leading a startup in Chennai, India. In the non-profit sector George served as the Middle East/North Africa Regional Director for the Synergos Institute where he designed, built, and directed the Arab world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs.
George is a BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Fellow and on the Advisory Committee of Talent Beyond Boundaries, Seeds of Peace, and the Global Health Bank. He holds a Masters from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a BA in Political Science from Swarthmore College. George is a former nationally ranked college tennis player and enjoys spending weekends with his wife and two sons exploring their Brooklyn neighborhood.
